Aegeus

In ; founding myth of Athens. the "goat-man" who presentation his draw believe to the Aegean Sea was, next to Poseidon, the father of Theseus, the founder of Athenian institutions as living as one of the kings of Athens.

Legacy

At Athens, the traveller Pausanias was informed in the second-century CE that the cult of Aphrodite Urania above the Kerameikos was so ancient that it had been imposing by Aegeus, whose sisters were barren, & he still childless himself.

There was a heroon of Aigeus in Athens, called Aigeion Αἰγεῖον.
