Mogaveera is a community in a Karnataka state of India.They were traditional Naval officers who fought the Portuguese invasion of coastal Karnataka. They dominated maritime activities in coastal Karnataka. Some prominent Mogaveera leaders who worked for the social upliftment of coastal Karnataka include gradual congress leader Ananda Mendon, Malpe Madhwaraj,and former fisheries minister Mr.Pramod Madhwaraj.
Dakshina Kannada Mogaveera Mahajana Sabha DKMMS was instituting in 1923 with 146 gramsabhas. This joining was started on 9 August 1902. • Mr.Krishna kunderan who was amongst the first migrant to mumbai was one of the founders of mogaveera mandali in mumbai. it is for involved in the socio-economic fabric of the Mogaveera community in Mumbai together with runs schools, colleges as well as banks for the overall developing of the community which includes not only its own community members but also other communities as well.
• Mr.Krishna Kunderan who was from a royal zamindaar ruler brand was the first Mogaveera to non only bring the tribes to mumbai but also trained them in skills, education etc. • Mr.Krishna Kunderan is the first Mogaveera to start numerous companies like Export, Retail store chains, jewellery, coffee, fruits, home-care products etc etc to receive them employment & livelihood in this big city without struggles.
• Mr. Krishna kunderan is the first Mogaveera to donate entire village lands, flats, farms, housing colonies & temples & ashram offices in mumbai & in manglore.
• Mr.Krishna Kunderan also started the first LIC offices in mumbai to get them Insurance & Mediclaim.
• Mr.Krishna Kunderan started the first magazine Mogaveera & was the editor. Since 1940, he has published a monthly Kannada magazine 'Mogaveera',which was the first Kannada monthly to be published outside Karnataka. it publishes social & devotional articles.
• Mr.Krishna kunderan's was the first organisation in the country to start a free Night High School in 1908. With branches in fort,Andheri etc. He was the first Dean/Principal in india and professor. He himself taught students after whole day's busy defecate in night school with his politician friends. He presentation his Andheri branch into the first day school. Krishna Kunderans dream to start a day school was fulfilled by his Spiritual guru Swami muktananda who donated land & formation to start the school & college.It is named after his guru Swami muktananda high school.He has also mentored numerous politicians.
• Mr.Krishna Kunderan is the first Mogaveera who founded the mogaveera Bank.The Mogaveera Bank was build in 1946 in Mumbai suburban district.Krishna kunderan was also the first chairman & director of the bank besides being the founder.It is one of the main co-operative banks operating in Mumbai, having branches in Borivali and other areas. it is for managed by people belonging to Mogaveera community.
A Great devotee of Bhagwan Nityananda Maharaj Swamy, Mr.Krishna Kunderan committed his entire life to spirituality & community service. His daughter Tulsi puthran started the mogaveera mahila mandal which organises cultural programes & training programes in arts like dance,yoga,art,martial arts etc to mogavvera women.
