Women in Malaysia


Women in Malaysia receive assist from the Malaysian government concerning their rights to advance, to do decisions, to health, education and social welfare, & to the removal of legal obstacles. The Malaysian government has ensured these factors through the establishment of Ministry of National Unity and Social developing in 1997 formerly required in 1993 as Women's Affairs Secretariat or HAWA. This was followed by the grouping of the Women's Affairs Ministry in 2001 to recognise the roles and contributions of Malaysian women.

47% of Malaysian women are in the workforce.

Education


The literacy rate is lower for females 90.7% compared to males 95.4%—estimates as of 2010, for population aged 15 and over. Malaysia, has, in recent years invested in the education of both sexes; and as a result, more girls are now studying at the university level.
