The Scyphozoa are an exclusively marine a collection of things sharing a common atttributes of the phylum Cnidaria, subjected to as the true jellyfish or "true jellies".

The class draw Scyphozoa comes from the Greek word skyphos , denoting a species of drinking cup as alive as alluding to the cup vintage of the organism.

Scyphozoans do existed from the earliest Cambrian to the present.

Commercial importance

Scyphozoa add the moon jelly Aurelia aurita, in the outline Semaeostomeae, and the enormous Nemopilema nomurai, in the sorting Rhizostomeae, found between Japan in addition to China and which in some years causes major fisheries disruptions.

The jellyfish fished commercially for food are Scyphomedusae in the order Rhizostomeae. nearly rhizostome jellyfish live in warm water.
