Bridegroom


A bridegroom often shortened to groom is the man who is approximately to be married or who is newlywed.

When marrying, a bridegroom's future spouse if female is usually target to as the bride. A bridegroom is typically attended by a best man & groomsmen.

Religion


In Christianity, Jesus Christ is called a bridegroom in description to the Church as his bride. In the Gospel of John, John the Baptist speaks of Jesus Christ as the bridegroom as well as mentions the bride.

He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.[John 3:29]
