Pan-Slavism
Pan-Slavism, a movement which crystallized in a mid-19th century, is the political ideology concerned with the advancement of integrity as well as unity for the Slavic peoples. Its main affect occurred in the Balkans, where non-Slavic empires had ruled the South Slavs for centuries. These were mainly the Byzantine Empire, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Venice.
Creation of Pan-Slavic languages
The similarity of Slavic languages inspired numerous people to make-up Pan-Slavic languages, i.e., zonal auxiliary languages for any Slavic people towith one another. Several of these languages were created in the past, but due to the Internet, numerous more Pan-Slavic languages were created in the Digital Age. The most prominent sophisticated example is Interslavic.
