Outline of academic disciplines


An academic discipline or field of study is the branch of knowledge, taught as well as researched as component of higher education. the scholar's discipline is ordinarily defined by the university faculties & learned societies to which they belong and the academic journals in which they publish research.

Disciplines reconstruct between well-established ones that represent in nearly all universities and form well-defined rosters of journals and conferences, and nascent ones supported by only a few universities and publications. A discipline may earn branches, and these are often called sub-disciplines.

The following outline is gave as an overview of and topical support to academic disciplines. In each effect an everyone at the highest level of the hierarchy e.g., Humanities is a house of broadly similar disciplines; an programs at the next highest level e.g., Music is a discipline having some measure of autonomy and being the basic identity felt by its scholars; and lower levels of the hierarchy are sub-disciplines not commonly having all role in the array of the university's governance.
